Integrating Library Resources into Blackboard

1. Search for Videos

Begin by browsing the streaming media collection available on the Media Services guide.

2. Where to find the URL

In Films on Demand the persistent link for each video is located below the media player, select Share, a window will open below with the segment link as well as the full title link. Films on Demand also allows you to create custom segments and link directly to your chosen clip, select the scissors icon for Segment.

Swank videos are made available through the library's research guide. On the Instructional Media Center's guide. Hover over the fifth tab for Swank Digital Campus then click Links to Swank Films page. Once you have located the URL for your chosen film, highlight and copy.

Swank Titles

Digital Theatre+ has the persistent URL in the address bar, this is not usually the case with library resources. The address bar URL typically contains information related to the search and will not take the reader directly to the desired page. Please see the homepage for more information. The URL will need the proxy prefix added to the link for off campus access. Please see the Linking Tools page or contact the library's online media specialist for more assistance.

The Library Instruction Videos are available through the HVCC Library YouTube channel.

Artstor's persistent link is located on the right side of the image above the image metadata. The URL will need the proxy prefix added to the link for off campus access. Please see the Linking Tools page or contact the library's online media specialist for more assistance.

Note About Embedding

Embedding media directly into Blackboard is not recommended by the Library or the Online and Distance Learning Office at HVCC. Embedded media may not be accessible off campus. Providing the persistent link as a Web Link is the most reliable way of sharing online content in Blackboard.

3. Adding the link to Blackboard

Once you have copied the link (and added the proxy prefix if needed), log into Blackboard. In the folder you would like the link. Select Build Content and select the sixth option down Web Link. Enter the title in the name field and paste the link into the URL field. Click submit - you're done!
