Integrating Library Resources into Blackboard

1. Search for E-Books

Search for E-Books directly within our E-Book providers:

ProQuest Ebook Central                EBSCO ebooks                Springer Ebooks

Contact the library for assistance using an E-Book source not listed above.

2. Where to find the URL

On the left side of the page, below Read Online and Full Download is Share Link to Book. A box will pop-up with the COPY Link (or persistent URL) This URL will be missing the proxy prefix, you will need to add this before linking to the E-Book in your course. Please see the linking tools page of this guide or contact the library's online media specialist for more assistance. The proxy prefix allows for off campus access to library resources.

ProQuest Ebook Central

To link directly to a chapter of an E-Book from ProQuest Ebook Central first select the link icon at the top of the page. The persistent URL will popup in a new window. The URL will need the proxy prefix added to the link for off campus access. Please see the Linking Tools page or contact the library's online media specialist for more assistance.

ProQuest Ebook Chapter

Once you have located an E-Book from EBSCO ebooks, the permalink will be located on the right side of the page. The URL will pop up above the title of the E-Book. The proxy prefix is already included for off campus access.

To link directly to a chapter of an E-Book from EBSCO ebooks, first select EPUB Full Text. You will be brought to the E-Reader. Select the chapter or page you would like to link to. Next, select the ellipses at the top of the page. Then select Permalink, the exact link to the page will be generated. This URL includes the proxy prefix for off campus access. Copy this URL to paste into your blackboard course.

Springer's persistent link to the E-Book record is located in the address bar, this is not usually the case with library resources. The address bar URL typically contains information related to the search and will not take the reader directly to the desired page. Please see the homepage for more information. The URL will need the proxy prefix added to the link for off campus access. Please see the Linking Tools page or contact the library's online media specialist for more assistance.

To link directly to a chapter, first make a selection from the table of contents. On the right side there may be an option to create a shareable link, and the persistent URL will popup in a new window. Not all Springer e-books have this option - if not, copy the chapter URL from the address bar. Both options will require adding the proxy prefix to the link for off campus access. Please see the Linking Tools page or contact the library's online media specialist for more assistance.

3. Adding the link to Blackboard

Once you have copied the link (and added the proxy prefix if needed), log into Blackboard. In the folder you would like the link. Select Build Content and select the sixth option down Web Link. Enter the title in the name field and paste the link into the URL field. Click submit - you're done!
